Volunteers have done a lot of work on both the campground and the trails. Plans are in the works for additional utility sites. When completed, there will be a total of 15 with electric and water. Eight are currently in place with seven more planned for spring of 2015. Once camp sites are in, our friends group will erect pipe corrals and build manure bunks. Unfortunately, due to ledge rock, water lines are not deep enough to withstand winter temps and must be drained for the winter season. A grant request was recently completed to ask for funding to construct a group shelter house with toilet and shower facilities included. Keep your fingers crossed. Next fund raiser ride is Apr 25, 2015.

Very nice horse campground! Dave and Rocky run a first class operation and are very customer oriented. Dave has done a lot of work in upgrading this facility in a short few years. If security is a concern to you, you need not worry at this camp. Dave has installed an automatic entry/exit gate and the camp is at the end of a dead end road so you don't have to worry about drive through traffic. Bath and shower facilities are clean and comfortable and you will enjoy lots of hot water! Unfortunately, we were plagued by rain for about half of our stay but there are lots of non-riding things to do and see in this part of Kentucky. We did get in a couple of great days of riding and you can ride directly out of Double J into the national park. The camp is dog friendly as long as you keep your pooch under control. Rocky will sell you farm fresh eggs if you need them!

One of the finest horse campgrounds in the country! Donna and Shawn have the customer service thing figured out! They are very "hands on" owners and it's obvious they want to give you the best experience possible. The trails are nice. We rode there following a great deal of rain so there were some puddles and soft spots but the majority of our rides were on great, fairly sandy footing. A very nice service for us was Shawn's willingness to haul us to another part of the park to start our rides so we would not have to double back. This gives you some flexibility that not many campgrounds offer. First class experience.
